Israel today is facing unprecedented dangers, from the Iranian nuclear threat, Gaza terrorism, the Syrian war whose combatants on both sides hate Israel, the unending Palestinian peace enigma, to unreliable promises of help from her allies.
It is natural for men to put their trust in men since the natural eye sees great and small and the natural mind rationalizes strength and weakness. But there is a different view by God’s Holy Spirit led people. Here are some of many Scriptures that tell us not to put our trust in men but only in the Lord our God:
Don’t put your trust in princes or in mortals, who cannot help.
When they breathe their last, they return to dust; on that very day all their plans are gone.
Happy is he whose help is Ya‘akov’s (Jacob’s-mine) God, whose hope is in Adonai (Lord God-mine) his God. Ps 146:3-5
Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. Prov 3:5
Here is what Adonai says: “A curse on the person who trusts in humans, who relies on merely human strength, whose heart turns away from Adonai.
Blessed is the man who trusts in Adonai; Adonai will be his security. Jer 17:5-8
Some would agree that the nation State of Israel is a modern day miracle, at least a hard to explain phenomena. Its history has been born out according to the Hebrew Scriptures and has to date become a mind boggling marvel!
The majority of the Hebrew Scriptures are actually about the Messiah as portrayed in the story of Israel and her relation to God and the nations. Beginning in Genesis with a covenant promise to Abraham and ending with the New Covenant letters, God’s intentions for mankind is revealed by His story of Israel and her Messiah.
We find ourselves in the 21st Century watching the nation of Israel deal with her seemingly insurmountable problems. There is great tension between her, her enemies and even her allies.
By natural wisdom Israel’s survival is doomed without help from ally nations. After all, many countries these days are armed to the teeth with super devastating weapons, if used, would have global implications and she is surrounded by some such enemies whose desire is to wipe her off the face of the earth!
It appears that without help from Israel’s mightily armed friends, peace talks and security cannot be accomplished. But, is this really the case? Does Israel really need help from ally nations?
God, Who has always engineered any national deliverance for Israel, has used Gentiles in the past to deliver her at various times and places, but we are now arguably in the last days and, with the free world falling apart from government corruption (the United States in particular), it may be time for God to show His singular might for what is coming!
God’s people accept by faith the stories of the Lord’s deliverances and miracles as told in the Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament Letters.
Examples like Sodom and Gomorrah, Noah and the ark, the release from slavery in Egypt, conquering of the land of Cannon, deliverance from Babylon, King David’s conquests, etc. all are excepted by faith but what about modern miracles that have been witnessed since the 20th century?
When Israel simultaneously fought seven Arab nations in 1948, its military was very poorly equipped and outnumbered. There weren’t enough guns to issue to every soldier, yet Israel won that war and gained nearly three times more land than it originally possessed by the 1948 partition!
In the 1967 Sinai campaign two Israeli tanks faced a full Egyptian tank unit. Without apparent reason, the Egyptians fled. When later captured they explained they saw “hundreds of Israeli tanks”!
During the 1973 Yom Kippur war, Syria had advanced short of Haifa and camped for three days, giving the Israelis time to muster troops to fight them! Why did they stop? A non-religious general described seeing a “great gray-white hand pressing down onto the Syrians from out of the sky”!
Prior to 1948 and beyond, many more miracles have occurred revealing God’s ‘end time’ purposes for the Jews and the land of Israel. *Websites on this subject can be found at: Websites about Miracles for Jews and Israel
Israel’s miraculous accomplishments in modern day wars ended with, not only winning, but little by little, war by war, gaining legitimate land mass, from the initially established state with approximately 3,000 square miles to around 36,000 after the 1973 Yom Kippur war!
It appeared that men, the United Nations in particular, had themselves defined then ‘given’ Israel a certain plot of land within the ancient boundaries, but it seems that God henceforth has been making adjustments in the direction of fulfilling His promise to give His people all the land promised in Scripture. *See link for study on this subject at: Torah Resources International
In the Hebrew book of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, it reveals an end time war with many nations gathered in alliance against Israel whom God Himself will start and will Himself end with victory for Israel! There is no mention of any other nation on earth helping Israel in this conflict.
The reason that Israel apparently receives no help from any nation may be in Ezek 39:22.
“So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward”! Ezek 39:22
So, the answer to the question “does Israel really need help from the nations” has apparently always been ‘no’ (even with apparent help from Gentiles that God setup for His purposes) but in these last days a sharp and clear ‘No’ may be declared from the Heavens as He shows His personal might in Israel’s victories.
Then there should be little confusion among men as to who deserves the credit! All will come to know God’s reality as He reveals His glory to the whole earth, “I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last” Isa 48:12
Does Israel themselves know the answer to the question? Very doubtful at the present time but it appears to be the early rain season in God’s end time calendar. As they begin to seek Him, God will remove the veil from their eyes in time for the harvest.
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.” John 12:40-41
These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
May Israel be blessed in all that God has planned for her while the whole world is waiting unbeknown!
Will Israel remain a nation?
“This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar- the Lord Almighty is his name: ‘Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,’ declares the Lord, ‘will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.’” Jer 31: 35-36
